You can Pre Order the film now. If so, be sure to grab the limited slipcover edition with a gorgeous illustration by Bela Unclecat! I was so thrilled when she agreed to do this illustration for the release, being one of my favorite illustrator/animators.
As of right now, this is the only way to see our film. I am of the mind that this film works best when not interrupted by relentless ads, so have been hesitant to agree to distribution on streamers. Still looking for that future streaming home that will treat the film well. (kinda hoping for a Mubi or Criterion tbh)
I can't wait to get my own copy!
Papercuts won the Honorable Mention Award at the Niigata International Animation Film Festival!! It was an honor to share the stage with my fellow award winners and to have met so many incredible filmmakers and animation lovers. Truly, Niigata feels like my home away from home after having attended two festivals there.
Returning home, I am fired up to begin work on my next feature animated project. It is my hope I will be able to find the right partners to fully realize a grand film. Papercuts was done super independently, but I am keen to work with a talented team to bring to life a film I could never achieve on my own. Wish us luck as we try to bring this dream into reality!
OTHER NEWSI am still doing some side work on my cookbook project Paper Plates. The concept was born from a desire to test the abilities of paper in depicting delicious looking food. I have long wanted to do a foodie movie in animation, so these tests were a wonderful trial in seeing if it was possible. I am happy to say, I believe the tests were a success. I'd eat these dishes, anyways!
So as I continue to let the ideas for a foodie film stew, so to speak, I am hoping to find a publisher willing to release my art/cook book composed of all my favorite dishes spanning cuisine from the entire globe. Who knows, maybe someday I can tour a film around while also giving me an excuse to cook and host some dinners. How fun would that be?
